1. Who we are

Northern Men ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at northernmen.com, an online advertising directory for independent adults offering their time and companionship across the North of England. In these terms, "you" means anyone who creates a profile ("advertiser"), or who browses or otherwise uses the site ("visitor").

We are a platform, not an agency. We provide advertising space and verification. We do not employ, manage, represent or supply advertisers, we do not arrange or take part in any meeting or booking, and we are not a party to any arrangement made between an advertiser and a client. Any agreement reached is strictly between those two adults.

2. Eligibility

To create or hold a profile you must:

be aged 18 or over and legally able to enter a contract (we may ask you to prove your age with ID);
complete our ID and age verification before going live;
have a valid UK mobile number and email address we can reach you on;
provide genuine, current, non-explicit photos of yourself that you own the copyright to, or have permission to use;
be an independent adult advertising on your own behalf — agency, managed or third-party accounts are not permitted; and
use the site lawfully and in line with these terms.

Visitors must also be 18 or over. This site contains adult content and is strictly for adults only.

3. The advertiser agreement

When you create a profile you agree that:

the information you give us — including your name, age, location, rates and profile details — is accurate, current and your own, and your photos are a genuine, up-to-date likeness of you;
you own, or have full rights to, every photo and word you upload, and you have consent from anyone shown;
you will be honest in your listing and in every communication with us, and honest and polite in your dealings with visitors;
you will keep your account details up to date, keep your password secure, and not share your account or log-in with anyone else;
you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize, adapt for layout and promote your content on and in connection with Northern Men for as long as your profile is live (and briefly afterwards for backups and legal records). You keep ownership of your content at all times;
you will not upload explicit content — no depictions of sexual activity, no nudity showing genitals, and nothing that presents the site as offering sexual services for payment; and
you are an independent advertiser advertising your own services only, and are responsible for your own conduct, your own bookings, and your own tax affairs (for example registering as self-employed with HMRC and paying any tax due on your earnings).

We may accept or refuse any advertisement at our discretion, and we may edit listing content — for example to meet our editorial standards or a legal requirement — while keeping the meaning of what you have written intact wherever we can.

4. Acceptable use and prohibited content

You must not use Northern Men to post, share or link to anything that is unlawful or that we prohibit. This includes, without limitation:

any content involving, or appearing to involve, anyone under 18;
explicit sexual content, or any wording that offers or solicits sexual services in exchange for payment;
content that is false, impersonates another person, or uses another person's images or identity;
AI-generated or digitally altered images passed off as genuine photos of you;
content depicting non-consensual acts, coercion, trafficking, violence, or anything illegal under the law of England & Wales;
hateful, harassing, defamatory or threatening material;
external contact details, payment links or third-party URLs embedded in photos, and spam or scraping of the site; and
anything that damages, overloads or interferes with the site or its security.

You are solely responsible for your content. We review images before publication, but review does not make us the author of, or responsible for, what advertisers post.

5. Prohibited and illegal content, and reporting

We have zero tolerance for illegal content, and for any content that facilitates exploitation, trafficking or coercion, or that involves anyone under 18. It is banned outright and will be removed.

Once we are made aware of illegal content, we act promptly to remove it and we cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate. Anyone — advertiser or visitor — can report a concern quickly and, if they wish, anonymously through our contact page ("Report a concern"). We take reports seriously and review them without delay.

This reflects Northern Men's responsibilities as a UK online service under the Online Safety Act 2023. This clause is an early draft and will be reviewed and expanded by a solicitor before launch.

6. Trust and verification

Every advertiser is ID- and age-verified before going live, and every photo is hand-approved. Advertisers may also choose to share STI test results with us to earn an optional "Tested member" badge showing status and last-test date only. Verification confirms the specific things we check — identity, age and photo approval — and nothing more. It is not a background check, a character reference, or a guarantee of safety, conduct or the accuracy of everything in a profile. Please read our safety guidance and take the usual precautions when meeting anyone.

7. Fees and billing

Creating a profile starts with a 30-day free trial with no card details required. If you choose to continue after the trial, we charge flat, one-off plan fees:

£40 — 30 days
£110 — 90 days
£180 — 180 days
£320 — 1 year

We take no commission and no per-booking fee — what you arrange with a client is yours. Plans do not auto-renew unless we tell you otherwise at the point of purchase; when a plan ends your listing pauses until you choose to renew. Prices include VAT where applicable and may change on notice, though a change will not affect a plan you have already paid for. You are responsible for your own income tax and any other duties arising from your advertising.

Cancellation and refunds. You may stop advertising and remove your profile at any time. Because access is granted for a fixed period, plan fees are non-refundable once a paid period has begun, and no refund is given for any unused part of an advertising period — except where required by law (for example the statutory 14-day cancellation right for consumers, which may not apply once you ask us to start the service immediately) or where we are at fault. Reversed payments. If a card payment to us is later reversed, charged back or otherwise reclaimed, we may recover that amount from you together with any reasonable costs we incur as a result (including the cost of recovering the debt), and we may suspend your advertising until the matter is resolved.

8. Complaints, reviews and ratings

Where reviews are enabled, they must be genuine, first-hand and lawful. Fake, incentivised, malicious or defamatory reviews are prohibited. We may moderate, decline or remove reviews at our discretion, and we are not responsible for the opinions expressed in them.

We may suspend or remove a listing where we receive a serious complaint about an advertiser's content or conduct, or where we suspect fake or incentivised reviews — whether posted by the advertiser, someone acting for them, or aimed at another advertiser.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, remove or terminate a profile — with or without notice, and without refund of a current paid period — where we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, where verification cannot be completed or is called into doubt, where content is unlawful or prohibited, or where we are required to do so by law. You may close your account at any time.

10. Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, and we make no warranty as to the conduct, accuracy, reliability or safety of any advertiser, visitor or third party. Any meeting or arrangement you enter into is at your own risk and your own responsibility.

11. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from meetings, arrangements or dealings between advertisers and clients, from the conduct or content of any user, or from indirect or consequential losses; and our total liability to you for any claim connected with the site is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses, damages and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of the site, your dealings with other users, or your breach of these terms or of any law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the current version here and update the date below; significant changes will be flagged where reasonable. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
